Karen Burnell's performance of 'The Piano-Organ, an Accompanied Reading' was included as part of a CoMA London Ensemble Zoom concert on 7 July 2020. Karen was the narrator of the poem by Amy Levy - a British essayist, poet, and novelist. The accompaniment, for a quartet of recorders is a distorted version of part of 'An Der Elbe' by Johann Strauss II and all the recorder parts were pre-recorded by Paul Burnell.
'The 'Piano-Organ' was included in Amy Levy's poetry collection 'A London Plane-Tree and Other Verse’ published in 1889. The recorders in the quartet are - sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor.
